I am wanting to wind silver wire on some bows. I am curious about methods to secure the ends of the wire. I am assuming that drilling a hole in the bow is not one method. Silver is a very good bearing material and so the friction method of winding over the ends to secure them seems unsecure to me. I would appreciate any experience or source of same.

Sorry for the late reply.

Actually, the preferred method is to wrap the wire over the wire, t give it 5 or 6 overlaps then break the excess piece off and keep winding.  Do the same at the other end.  This is the same method as used in tying fishing lures.  It is tried and true and there is no coming loose as it is finished with a small dot of silver solder which is carefully filed and polished.  Be sure the overlaps are on the underside of the stick.
